Ornament packages look similar on a quote until you know what to check. Four things separate a tree that goes up clean from one that costs you in bare spots or install labor:
Ornament count. We build 20 ornaments per panel and roughly 60 on the cone. Some packages use as few as 7–9 per panel. At viewing distance, that difference is the gap between a full tree and one with visible bare spots. When you compare quotes, ask how many ornaments each package includes per panel and on the cone.
Size mix. We use an assortment of 3″, 4″, and 6″ ornaments on every panel. Packages built only from 3″ or 4″ ornaments cost less, but small ornaments disappear on a tower tree — they’re sized for a residential tree, not a commercial one. The 6″ ornaments are what carry at a distance. Ask what sizes are in the package, not just the count.
Prewired vs. loose. Our ornaments come prewired — the wire is already attached, so your crew hangs them straight out of the box. Some packages ship the ornaments and the wire separately, which means someone has to attach a wire to every ornament before it goes on the tree. On a 42-foot tree, that’s over 2,300 ornaments to wire by hand before install even starts. Ask whether the package is prewired. A lower ornament price doesn’t help if it buys your crew days of prep.
No glitter by default. Our standard packages don’t include glitter-finish ornaments, because glitter lacks UV protection and fades within a season or two outdoors. If you want the glitter look, we’ll build it in — some customers do — but we don’t bundle it by default, so you’re not paying for a finish that won’t hold up unless you’ve specifically chosen it.
A lower package price usually comes from fewer ornaments, smaller sizes, loose ornaments that need wiring, or finishes that don’t last outdoors. When you’re comparing, line those factors up side by side and the difference in the number becomes clear.
